Daucus carota subsp. sativus

50 days.  What a find!  We absolutely love this carrot!  Red to maroon skins fade into bright orange centers- this carrot is a nutritional powerhouse!  Rouge Sange means blood red.  There are not many red carrots that grow well at Northern latitudes- but we have found one here!  Quick and productive, these stout beauties will get as fat as you let them without compromising flavor.  We simply can't say enough about the magnificence of this carrot!

This variety stores super well when stored fresh in the winter.  To read more about passive storing of carrots for fresh consumption without a refrigerator read our "Storing Fresh Carrots" blog post.

Carrots have the bad reputation of being difficult to germinate, but unnecessarily so! Cover seeds lightly, if you have coarse soil use sifted compost or fine peat. Keep moist while they germinate, watering twice per day in warmer weather. Thin to 3" between plants.
