Physalis izocarpa

75 from transplant.  Mexican heirloom husk tomato for salsa verde, plants are quick to grow and yield hearty amounts of 3-4 oz. bright, apple-green fruit.  Fruits are smooth textured and sweet.  One of the largest and highest yielding varieties, use this one for whole roasted tomatillos.

Tomatillos are also husk cherries.  Happily, tomatillos are very easy to grow and are quite drought tolerant!

Start seeds indoors 3-4 weeks before average last frost date. Tomatillos tend to germinate and get up and growing quickly.  Thin to the strongest plant per pot. Transplant 18-24" apart in full sun, plants transplant better when small, 10-12".  2-4' plants don't require staking.  Harvest fruits when the paper husk has started to turn brown.  We harvest ours when they have fallen to the ground, could it get any easier?

Tomatillos benefit from cross pollination, so for best results grow two or more plants.
