Chenopodium quinoa

90-100 days. This is a great choice for a short-season quinoa!  Beautiful orange seed heads, quinoa can be grown for the seeds and/or as a decorative ornamental with a look similar to amaranth- reaching 4-5 ft. tall.  We were really happy with how this quinoa did on our farm.  We bought these seeds from Adaptive Seeds, who say this quinoa was named for the late quinoa collector David Cusack.

Start inside 3-4 weeks before last frost, or direct sow outside around the last frost date.  Can handle a light frost.  Quinoa thrives in cooler conditions so don't delay.  Harvest dry plants and shake in a bag to free seeds from plants. Use a fan or screen to blow off chaff.
