Quick Facts

-Super hardy bunching onion

-Our favorite onion for flavor and hardiness!

Allium fistulosum

This super hardy bunching onion overwinters easily uncovered on our Idaho farm and is a real flavor winner! Unlike other green/bunching onions, this onion has a very forgiving harvest window. Harvest when young for delectable and tender green onions, or harvest later for a more substantial stalk that you can use to substitute bulb onions.  Over-wintered red welsh have been our first spring crops to harvest for a number of years now. Beautiful stalks have a a red hue. This is an old form of perennial bunching onion.
