Cucumis sativus
Kilis was introduced to us by Mehmet Oztan of Two Seeds in a Pod. This cucumber is from south-central Turkey, in a town called Kilis near the Syrian border. This cucumber is great pickled or as a fresh eating slicer. Short vines yield fruit early in the season.

Plant 1-2" deep in small mounds 24" apart. As plants tend to produce less after 6 weeks of production I encourage 2 plantings, one right after the last frost date and one 3 weeks to a month later to ensure high quality cucumbers all season long. Cucumbers are heavy feeders, provide fertility throughout the season. |
