Cicer arientinum 90-100 days. We love that 'Pascia' produces large tan beans that stay slightly al dente even after cooking. Plants grow upright so you don't have to worry about dirt in your harvest or mold from the moist soil. This variety is rare in the United States. Grow chickpeas! It's much easier than you might think to grow a decent amount of chickpeas in your home garden. Frost tolerant, get these started in early spring- a great choice for short season climates! Plant shortly after the ground can be worked in spring, right around when you might plant peas. Plant on the surface as light aids germination. Alternatively, plant indoors on the surface of the soil 2 weeks prior to transplanting. Transplants quite well. Thin to 1' apart, with rows 18" apart. Allow plants to dry down in late summer. Harvest by cutting down the whole dry plant into a bag. Free seeds from pods by beating the bag, or driving over it, and use a fan to separate chaff from beans. |
