Phaseolus lunatus

Pole Lima.  This highly productive heirloom really impressed us!  We got it from the Seed Savers Exchange Yearbook, who got it from Helen Sheppard, who originally got it from her neighbor, Bertha Lowe.  Betha Lowe said only that it was a "very old variety."

Direct sow 1" deep near a trellis after all danger of frost has passed. In row spacing is 3" with 8" between rows. Soaking seeds for 2-4 hours can hasten germination time. Planting with bean specific bacterial inoculum may help boost yields, especially if planting where beans have not grown before.
