Physalis ixocarpa

80 days. Large yellow tomatillo, fruits 2 inches in diameter. Plant foliage is sparse and somewhat drought tolerant, bears fruit heavily. Rich flavor that is great for salsas. Heirloom.

Start seeds indoors 3-4 weeks before average last frost date. Thin to the strongest plant per pot. Transplant 18-24" apart in full sun, plants transplant better when small, 10-12". Tomatillos are ripe when the husk fully turns brown, or they fall off the plant.  Plant more than one, as they benefit from cross pollination.
