Brassica napus
Purple topped rutabaga with golden skin. An Irish heirloom. Quick growing and packed with vitamin A, rutabaga is a great cold-tolerant vegetable for fall or spring planting. Hardy down to about 15 degrees F. We love to eat rutabaga mashed like mashed potatoes or roasted in olive oil. We obtained 'Major Dunne' rutabaga from Adaptive Seeds, who say it was named for Major John William Dunne, an early pioneer of flight.
