Phaseolus acutifolius 90 days, bush habit. The Bavi, or tepary bean, is the most drought adapted bean in the world. We originally obtained seed from Native Seed Search, an organization whose mission is to "Conserve and share the seeds of the people of the desert Southwest and Mexico so that these arid-adapted crops may benefit communities and nourish a changing world." It is also called W'pegi bawi. These beans range from tan to red to brown and are from Menagers Dam, a Tohono O'odham community near the Mexican Border. They are from a high desert climate and do great in our garden. They would grow well in most places provided they are not overwatered, especially once the seed pods are mature and drying down on the plant when we stop watering completely. How to grow it:
