Quick facts
Solanum lycopersicum 85 days, Determinate. Dwarf Italian heirloom for saucing and canning. Large 2 oz fruits go a long way in the kitchen! Extremely productive for an open-pollinated variety, just a couple of plants will keep you in sauce all winter. Few seeds and little juice- excellent for pasting. Not as prone to blossom-end rot as hybrid tomato varieties, resistant to early blight. Ripening may be delayed in hot conditions. Very heavy, concentrated harvest. A bit of its story: This variety was offered in the Seed Savers Exchange 1991 Yearbook by Maureen Conway, of Western NY who obtained the seed from an 87 year-old Italian gardener in the Finger Lakes area of New York State. He seed saver and grew this variety for many years. He received the seed from a friend who brought them from Italy many years earlier. How to grow it:
