Levisticum officinale

Lovage, or celery leaves, is a great, easy to grow perennial substitute for celery.  Celery is difficult to grow in our hot climate with short springs, so we especially appreciate this reliable perennial which is one of the first green leaves we eat from the garden every spring.  We love adding it to soups, eggs, green smoothies, or anywhere you might use ordinary celery.  This is an heirloom you'll find in many homestead kitchen gardens- a must-have plant!

Start indoors up to 12 weeks before last frost. Germination can be spread over a long period of time.  Transplant at 6-12” apart.  Choose your spot carefully as this is a tall perennial which will grow 5 ft. tall every year.  Doesn't spread aggressively though.
