Lactuca sativa
Deer's tongue lettuce. Solid green, triangular leaves make an attractive rosette that can be harvested all at once like a heading lettuce, or harvested as a cut and come again lettuce. Medium-sized plants 6-7" tall, 9-11". Largest leaves 6-7" long, 3.5-4.5" wide. Good flavor and we love deer's tongue lettuce for their wonderful crunchy juicy texture and crisp midribs.
A bit of its story: We obtained this lettuce from the Seed Savers Exchange. It was donated to Seed Savers Exchange in the 1990s by Mrs. Votroubek who called it Bohemic lettuce since her family nationality is Bohemian.
