 Gilia capitata

Round clusters of light purple flowers resemble wild flowers in their untamed beauty. Tall plants reach 24-36” in height and lean here and there in large attractive mounds. Makes a nice cut flower. Butterflies love this flower! West coast native that prefers hot, dry conditions.

Direct sow around the last frost date. Cover lightly with a scant amount of soil. Tolerates a wide variety of conditions from shade to full sun, but prefers well-drained soil. Great as roadside flower planting, or for a more untamed area of the garden such as a border.  Moderately drought tolerant.
