Physalis ixocarpa

65 days.  Larger tomatillo, with each averaging 2” across. More complex and deeper flavor than other tomatillos, thus its name. High yielding and perfect for salsa verde. Suitable for container gardens. Fruits ripen to greenish yellow.

Tomatillos are loaded with phytochemicals and flavonoids.  Looking for unique uses other than salsa verde- they add a nice savory flavor to spaghetti sauces or roast them whole!  Or, dry them like sundried tomatoes or raisins.

Tomatillos are ripe when the husk fully turns brown, or they fall off the plant.  Plant more than one, as they benefit from cross pollination.
