Brassica oleracea
Excellent choice for an open-pollinated, mid-sized, dark purple cabbage. And talk about antioxidants! A farmer’s market favorite, these beauties are big enough to feed a family but don’t overwhelm. Dense heads keep well in storage. |
How to grow it:
Start indoors as early as 6-8 weeks before the last frost. For successive harvest through the season, sow every two weeks through the summer solstice. Can be direct sown as well. Thin/transplant to at least 24” apart on all sides. More space will yield larger heads. Seed specs: Packet size- 50 min. |
