Direct sow up around last frost. Do not transplant. More mild tasting in cooler weather, get this one started early to beat the heat as well as the pests. Harvest by cutting the whole plant as a head. Plant successively every two weeks to keep you in greens. Pest concerns: Tiny black western flea beetles can feed heavily on brassica seedlings, causing tiny shot gun holes in the leaves. Plants are particularly vulnerable in their seedling stage, and growth may be significantly slowed/the plant lost if feeding is heavy. Where they are a problem, cover plants with a light row-cover at planting to exclude beetles and egg-laying mamas. Seed specs: Packet size: 1 g ~250 seeds |
