Quick facts

  • Pear-shaped heirloom from Ukraine
  • Super nutritious purple/black fruit, high in anthocyanins

Solanum lycopersicum

Inderterminate.  We love the fact that darker tomatoes contain more super nutritious anthocyanins, so we wanted to add one of these black tomatoes to our garden and catalog.  We chose to grow blue pear because of it's super high recommendation from Renaissance Farm Seeds, who said it was their absolute favorite of 2017.

We love the shape and beautiful brick red to purple to black color fading.  They had few seeds and thick flesh, great for slicing onto sandwiches.  Leggy indeterminate plants need a tomato cage.
