Quick facts

  • Very early tomato
  • Bred at the University of Idaho
  • Very suited to shorter seasons and cooler nights.

Solanum lycopersicum

50 days. Determinate.  Get this- we grew this tomato in partial shade this year and it still was our earliest!  We typically plant our tomatoes, and then kind of forget about them for the early summer while we are keeping the garden weeded.  So I was very surprised to walk past Latah one day way before I would have been looking for ripe tomatoes and seeing- ripe tomatoes.  Very juicy and the flavor is great too- a nice balance of sweet and tart.

Developed at the University of Idaho and named after the Idaho county.  And this is definitely an Idaho tomato- does well even where the summer nights are cool.
