90 days. Noodle-like consistency makes this winter squash a great pasta substitute. We do farmer's market with our winter squashes and people are simply spaghetti squash crazy. That's why we decided to grow it, even though it's not a rare variety its fun to have a winter squash with a different consistency. It's such a fun addition- even in dishes you might not think of- like the vegan tacos we made the other night! Easy to grow and a relatively good keeper with thick skin that can serve as a bowl for the meal you create.

Plant 1-2" deep in small mounds 24" apart. Winter squash are heavy feeders so provide fertility initially, then every few weeks through the season. Harvest before the first frost, as even a slight frost will damage the flesh and make the squash unstorable. Allow to cure in a sunny, frost free location for 2-3 weeks. This curing process seals the pores of the squash skin for storage and improves flavor. Learn more about growing, harvesting, and curing squash in our blog post about it! |
