Quick facts
Pisum sativum Climbing, snap pea cross between a Victorian purple podded and Oregon Sugar Pod II. Most tender when eaten young and small. Flowers are light and dark purple and seeds very diverse in shape and pigmentation. Wrinkled seeds can be cuboial, cylindrical, or pyramidal and range from dark green to orange. Smooth seeds have fine purple speckling. Edible purple pods start out straight and flat and plump to be a somewhat round snap pea. As a diverse population, it throws about half green pods, half purple pods. Continue the breeding work by taking this population the direction you would like- selecting for green or purple pods and saving the seeds! This variety was bred by Andy Davice in Oxford, UK around 1998, and was acquired by the Seed Savers Exchange. How to grow it:
