Tall, dark blue, spike blooms flower in early to mid summer and are simply stunning! Very attractive to pollinators, especially bumble bees. Likes well drained soil and can be planted in the shade. Short-lived perennial.

Seeds need a period of stratification, or cold chilling, prior to planting. 2-4 weeks in a refrigerator or cold (40-50 F) basement in moist soil or a moist paper towel should do it.

Direct sow around last frost date, covering lightly. Or, start indoors 6 weeks before the average last frost date. Transplant after all danger of hard frost has passed with 24" between plants.
